Job Requirements / Description
R&D Scientist – Electro-hydrodynamics (M/F)Permanent contractPublished on June 6, 2024Brand descriptionTREEFROG THERAPEUTICSTreeFrog Therapeutics is an innovative biotech aiming to bring cell therapies to millions of patients, thanks to C-StemTM technology, which was developed to cultivate and differentiate stem cells on a large scale, a world 1st. Since its incorporation in 2018, TreeFrog Therapeutics has raised more than € 74 million and is experiencing strong acceleration thanks to its over 130 froggies team.TreeFrog's technology is based on the production of alginate capsules, which provide an ideal microenvironment for stem cell culture. One of the challenges is to maximize capsule production throughput, to reach a scale that satisfies the needs of therapies under development, while maintaining micro-compartment quality. As part of the Physics & technology R&D department, the Physics Research Team is organized around two main areas of research :· A group dedicated to the physics of hydrogel capsules.· A group focused on the hydrodynamics of high-speed encapsulation, that aims to identify the technical levers and obstacles that will enable or impede capsule production rates to be increased by a factor of 10 or more.JOB DESCRIPTIONReporting directly to Jérôme, the Research Physics Team Manager, and side by side with the current team focused on the hydrodynamics of high-speed encapsulation composed by a lead scientist, Martin, and a research engineer, Théo, you will be involved in the electro-hydrodynamic aspects of single and parallel encapsulation system developments. This mission, with a strong experimental component, covers the following areas:- Implementation of electro-hydrodynamic measurement methods- Parametric study of the encapsulation system at high flow rate. In particular, the influence of an electric field on the stability and mono-dispersity of a spray of hydrogel capsules.- Experimental validation of electro-hydrodynamic simulations. Constant cross-talk between simulations & experiments to establish relevant electrostatic design criteria- Experimental study of parallel encapsulation- Based on acquired knowledge, design new encapsulation and droplet collections strategies adapted to high flow ratesRESPONSABILITIESYou will have a wide range of responsibilities, including the following:1. CONDUCT RESEARCH & EXPERIMENTS- Proposing experimental plans fulfilling a particular scientific objective- Conducting experiments- Analyses data and ensures statistical relevance of results- Effectively maintaining accurate records of experiments and analyses performed- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of all current methods of experimentation2. DESIGN, CHARACTERIZE & OPTIMIZE EXPERIMENTAL SETUP- Adapting new bench experimental setups to perform target experiments.- Validating the experimental setups by proper calibrations.3. ENSURE REPORTING & COMMUNICATION- Completing up-to-date experimental reports (labbook, raw/processed data management)- Writing project reports (follows internal guidelines)- Writing IP reports & patents when applicable (follows internal guidelines)- Building structured and rigorous scientific presentations- Presenting scientific resultsPROFILWith a Master of Science in physics, ideally completed with a PhD in experimental physics, you have a strong scientific background, especially in hydrodynamics, electrostatics, and soft matter. You have at least 3 years’ experience in experimental science, and a first experience in R&D in the Industry would be appreciated. You are familiar with setup design and fabrication techniques (CAO, 3D printing, imaging setups, coding). You have excellent ability to write, analyze and present results. You also have the ability to produce a minimum level of reporting.Hands-on, you have enthusiasm to do experiments and resilience. You show open-mindedness and aptitude for change. You are proficient in analytical and critical thinking and have rigor, precision, listening, communication skills. Your research is team-oriented, you favor transparency, coordination and team spirit over individual performance. You are Bilingual or fluent English (spoken and written). You are motivated by the emerging field of cell therapies, and eager to contribute to their expansion? Join us as a Froggy in TreeFrog. WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS #J-18808-Ljbffr
