The Paris Brain Institute (ICM) is a private foundation recognized as being of public utility, whose purpose is fundamental and clinical research on the nervous system. On the same site, 700 researchers, engineers and doctors cover all the disciplines of neurology, with the aim of accelerating discoveries on the functioning of the brain and the development of treatments for diseases such as:
Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, depression, paraplegia, tetraplegia, etc.
POSITION
- Context
The Paris Brain Institute engages increasingly in large multi-cohort, multi-central transversal clinical research studies that aim to allow integrated data exploration and prediction models across diverse sets of retrospective and prospective clinical research databases, integrating multimodal data from neuroimaging, biological samples, and omics. These studies require long-term solutions that ensure interoperability across the diversity of research data. The Data Analysis Core facility (DAC) supports researchers throughout this process by providing robust and reproducible analysis and data management solutions. Job description (mission)
As a Junior Clinical Data Manager/Engineer, you will help reconcile diverse clinical data collected at the institute. This role is crucial for multimodal studies integrating clinical data and biological samples.
Your tasks will include
- Implement, harmonize, and ensure interoperability of retrospective clinical research databases
- Develop solutions using R or Python for:
- Data curation: Parsing large CSV files to identify and correct errors
- Data reconciliation: Merging files using common keys
- Data visualization: Creating plots to illustrate data overlap and project progress
- Design and perform quality control for large clinical research databases
- Implement, document, and support solutions to reconcile and maintain consistency of REDCap databases with multi-modal data
- Adhere to Good Clinical Practices (GCP) in managing clinical, personal, and biological data
Knowledge (savoir)
- Bachelor's degree (BAC+3) or higher in data management, bioinformatics, biotechnology, or related field
- Fluency in French (required) and Professional English (highly desired)
Know-how (savoir-faire)
- Hands-on experience in Data Engineering (e.G., manipulation of large CSV data files)
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) i.E. Bonnes Pratiques Cliniques (BPC)
- Understanding of digital tools for data management and clinical research databases (e.G., REDCap)
Soft skills (savoir-être)
- (Proven) affinity working in a research environment (academic or industry)
- Autonomy and initiative, with a hands-on attitude
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Flexible and solution-oriented with the ability to communicate with researchers and staff from different backgrounds and with different needs, timetables, and understanding
