Imerys is determined to develop responsibly, in particular by fostering the emergence of environmentally-friendly products and processes.The PositionFiltration & Life Sciences S&T DirectorJob SummaryLeads the PM EMEA Science and Technology (R&D) development efforts, in accordance with Imerys and PM EMEA & APAC BA strategy for Filtration & Life Sciences markets, namely: Agriculture, Animal Feed, Filtration, Water treatment, Cat Litter, Absorbents segments.Responsibilities:Responsible for developing the necessary technologies and laboratory capabilities to support PM EMEA Filtration & Life Sciences (new products, new applications, new services).Participate in nurturing Imerys relationships with PM EMEA customers, in particular customers’ R&D.Sets overall S&T plan on the PM EMEA Filtration & Life Sciences markets roadmaps issued from Marketing and define with business the prioritization of technical work.Works closely with Filtration & Life Sciences market VP (and/or delegates) to drive NPD technical development of PM EMEA Filtration & Life Sciences markets with a focus on short and medium term projects.Manage NPD projects for PM EMEA Filtration & Life Sciences markets through accolade.Ensures tight coordination with PM EMEA Operations and Filtration & Life Sciences markets teams (Commercial, Marketing and Business teams, Technical Services).Ensure coordination between other PM geographies (Americas, APAC) to avoid duplication and knowledge/asset/skill.Leads Filtration & Life Sciences S&T team through appropriate management rituals and attracts, develops and retains team members in his/her perimeter (beyond direct reports).Act as a key member of the BA S&T management team in Europe.Accountability:Technology Accountability: efficient use of resources to deliver timely technology solutions.Portfolio of R&D projects Co-Accountability with Business leaders for Filtration & Life Sciences: Portfolio vitality (number of gates passed and launches), alignment with market strategy, and NPD sales.Laboratory safety and lab assets acquisition and maintenance.Opex & Capex budget for Filtration & Life Sciences S&T labs and team members.Team and people growth (incl. coaching and development plans of direct reports).IP portfolio development and maintenance for Filtration & Life Sciences.Resources/team:Solid line: managers or individual contributor from S&T functions assigned to the Filtration & Life Sciences S&T teams (Engineers or Technicians).External stakeholders: customers, professional associations, scientific communities, Universities, external companies for subcontracting lab works.Competencies & experience:Seasoned S&T (R&D) engineer or PhD.Technology and/or application development.Intellectual property portfolio development.Strong interpersonal skills.Experience managing scientists and technical teams.Product development from idea to launch.Demonstrated capability to deliver results in a challenging environment.Business acumen.Extensive internal & external technical networks in polymer and rubber industries.Ideal background/experience:PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Natural sciences (biology, agronomy..) 10+ years of work experience, including 5-10 years of leadership roles R&D roles in industry related to filtration or life sciences.Typical profile:S&T Senior Manager or R&D Director in Filtration & Life Sciences markets.Location: Toulouse, France.Position TypeFull time and Permanent. #J-18808-Ljbffr
