Research Associate (N-24-20)

The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for aproactive Research Associate to work with the project team and other partnerson the implementation of project activities in the field, collection ofresearch data, publication of research findings, and that those findings aretranslated into a form that will enable practitioners to take new methods andtools to scale. About the role This position will be based in West Bengal and theselected candidate will help with capacity strengthening efforts linked tobuilding a community of practice knowledgeable in potato seed systems, cropmanagement and post-harvest management. The position requires an experiencedpotato person with good quantitative and writing skills combined with anability to teach complex topics to researchers at different levels of expertiseand as well it will be an opportunity to develop publications. This positionwill be based in Siliguri, West Bengal, India and will report to the Project Managerof West Bengal Project. Requirements Key responsibilities: The selectedcandidate will mainly focus on these tasks/responsibilities below: PromotingApical Rooted Cutting Technology. Overseeingproduction of potato tissue plantlets, Production of Apical Rooted cuttings. Conductdemonstrations on improved production practices related to potato seedproduction, plant or soil nutrition, pest and disease management,mechanization, and water management. Conduct fieldvisits to monitor and collect seed, plant, and soil samples and testing samplesfor nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or other changes. Work closelywith the project team in developing production practices by integratingvarieties with improved production practices to improve farmers’ income. Providetrainings to farmers, project partners and extension agents on improvedproduction practices. Contribute towriting training materials, technical progress reports and annual reviews andworkplans as directed by the project manager. Assist theproject manager in administrative tasks and activities related to knowledgemanagement and generating communication outputs for users of technologies.
