Electrical Design Engineer - Rail

Our expertise extends to depots, operations, maintenance analytics and asset management across all aspects of rail, including transport, technical and sustainability assessments and systems infrastructure.About the roleWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Design Engineer. The ideal candidate must possess railway knowledge, with experience in both single and multidisciplinary projects related to traction power, earthing and bonding and track plant and equipment.This role may also include working on projects internationally for Egis, including travel within the UK and Ireland. The role can be based in our London or Birmingham office on a hybrid basis.You must have the right to work in the UKDuties & responsibilitiesAs a design engineer, responsibilities include developing electrical fixed plant designs, calculations, reports, specifications, schematic, and layout drawings for railway projects. The candidate must ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications, implementing quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy, reliability, and safety of electrical designs.Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, and engineering managers is crucial for integrating electrical systems with other railway infrastructure elements. This includes but is not limited to track systems, signalling systems, telecommunication networks, and civil engineering. The candidate will also be involved in integrating new electrical designs with existing or modified railway systems.Collaborate, converse, and actively participate in meetings with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address design-related challenges and provide technical support to junior engineers.The candidate should be capable of independently resolving routine design issues and applying knowledge/training to complex tasks with minimal supervision.
