The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic and passionate about bioinformatics and related technologies. We are looking for a team player who can rapidly adapt to challenges and interact with different teams as new projects arise. This position would be an excellent match for someone who is comfortable working with both biologists and developers to translate biological data into actionable insights.We have many different teams within DNA Script who have bioinformatic requirements, and this role will include assisting in both the rapid turnaround of biological questions into insight, as well as running and maintaining already established pipelines and tools. Thus, the ability to juggle multiple projects, both short-term and long-term, is crucial.Main ResponsibilitiesBe in charge of the analysis of NGS and other forms of sequencing dataDevelopment and maintenance of APIs and graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for querying database contentDesign and implement relational databasesParticipate in the development of smart designs to facilitate synthesis and assembly of oligonucleotidesCreating dashboards for data visualization and analysisParticipate in the development and improvement of the bioinformatics side of commercial productsEnsure consolidation, traceability and reliability of generated data and algorithmsOperationally manage activities required to achieve key objectives linked to strategic partnershipsEnsure comprehensive, clear and concise reporting of your activitiesPromote good coding practicesQualifications and Education RequirementsEither a MSc degree in bioinformatics with at least 2 years’ experience in a related field or a PhD in a related field (bioinformatics, computational biology)Direct experience working with NGS dataProficient in Python programmingExperience in developing and maintaining bioinformatics tools, including databases, APIs, and graphical user interfaces (GUIs)Experience in developing interactive tools using technologies such as Flask and/or ShinyComfortable in working to a high standard both independently and as part of a teamCurious and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quicklyProficient in English and a basic level of FrenchPreferred Skills and AbilitiesExperience in using workflow languages (snakemake, Nextflow) to run pipelinesExperience working in a cloud environment (e.g. AWS)Machine learning / StatisticsCompetence in working on a Linux command lineParallelization of computations on High Throughput Computing (HTC) systemsExperience with Docker/Singularity is a plus
