Job Requirements / Description
Alice&Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems. The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously! We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM. We are growing fast, securing 30 million USD of funding in 2022 to develop our unique technology. We are 100 and counting, between physicists, PhDs, engineers and experienced business professionals, all united in reaching our ambitious goal. If you are an explorer, craving to challenge yourself and make quantum computing come true, come and join us!As a Research Scientist - Classical Error Correction, your role will be to improve the design of Alice&Bob's fault-tolerant architecture. You will work in close collaboration with the rest of the theory team and with the experimental teams in order to create superior fault-tolerant schemes adapted to the bosonic processors that Alice&Bob is building.Your work will be at the inception of the Alice&Bob innovation cycle, as the architectures proposed by the Quantum Error Correction team are the starting point of the hardware design, implementation and characterisation cycle. As such, you will have a direct and strategic impact on the hardware roadmap and will see your theoretical work become an experimental reality.ResponsibilitiesContribute to the development of Alice&Bob's fault-tolerant architecture (improve QEC schemes, fault-tolerant logical gate designs, etc.),Contribute to the development of internal architecture performance analysis tools,Contribute to the development of the hybrid classical-quantum computing architecture of a fault-tolerant quantum computer (decoding algorithms, etc.),Work in collaboration with the Hardware design & analysis team to assess the performance of the proposed architectures based on realistic hardware modelling and noise models.RequirementsEducation: PhD in Classical Error Correction or a related field (Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.)Experience: 3+ years of research in the field or equivalent experience, experience publishing academic papers as a lead author, experience participating in top conferences in Classical Error CorrectionSkills: Expertise in classical error correcting codes, knowledge of quantum error correction is a plusBenefits25-day vacation policy (as per French law) + RTTHalf of transportation cost coverage (as per French law), or yearly allowance for the die-hard bicycle usersCompetitive health benefits with AlanMeal vouchers with Swile, as well as access to a fully equipped kitchenParental benefits with crèche supportFlexible remote policy, up to 25% a month. We encourage women to apply even if they don't match 100% of the job requirements listed.
