Role descriptionThe Global Director of Retail is responsible for operational excellence and continued growth of our Blackcrows global retail business, which consists of innovative concept stores in Europe and North America. The role oversees the areas of Store Design and Development, Project Management, Trade Marketing and Retail Operations.The Global Director of Retail will report into the Global President and will develop and implement a strategy to achieve both departmental and company-wide business objectives. He or she will also provide leadership to in-field teams and support them in developing both personal and professional competencies.A key priority of this role is to lead and further grow a highly motivated, successful retail organization (focusing on guest experience, brand storytelling and store guidelines and processes), while maximizing sales and margins of the channel. This is both a strategic and hands-on role, with the specific task of creating truly unique Blackcrows experiences for our guests.The role will also be responsible for setting trade marketing standards to cascade across both owned store and wholesale environments.Responsibilities and DutiesDevelop and implement long-term strategic plans for our global retail “nest” concepts while expanding our community through best in class blackcrows experiencesBuild and maintain a successful team fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture. Lead, inspire and motivate teams with standards of excellenceHold direct responsibility for achieving the 4-wall profit and profit and loss (P&L) expectations for the Retail channelDevelop strategic partnerships with internal partners (including Marketing & Communications, E-Commerce and Wholesale) to ensure alignment in strategies and effective coordination and collaborationWork closely with design agencies and marketing partners to lead, develop and execute trade marketing campaigns in both retail and wholesale environments.Drive overall business growth by identifying new opportunities, expanding into new markets, and developing innovative omni-channel retail strategiesThrough actions and examples, ensure that Blackcrows values are fully incorporated into business strategies and consumer messaging, upholding the values of the company with all interactionsPrepare the annual budget for each location; develop sales forecasts, positive solutions and action plans to maximize store performanceDevelop a global network and build relationships to drive business growth and leverage new opportunitiesIn partnership with HR, oversee team recruitment, training, evaluation and developmentStay closely informed of retail industry trends and developments relevant to the Blackcrows ecosystemRequired skills:10+ years of experience in a retail leadership role for a premium retail brand, including five years of managerial experience with P&L responsibilityProven track record in achieving retail business growth and excellenceStrong experience in retail project management and store opening protocolsExperienced and confident to lead and inspire senior level managementInternational mindset and deep knowledge of global retail brands, markets, trends and strategiesExcellent strategic thinking and negotiation skills, including the ability to analyze market trends, identify opportunities and risks, and formulate effective strategies to drive business growthStrong experience in retail project management and store opening protocolsStrong organizational skills; enthusiastic and creativeFlexible to travel on a project-by-project basisFluent in English, additional languages (French, Spanish, Italian or German) are a plusBlackcrows is committed to providing a work environment that promotes diversity, inclusion and equal employment opportunity, regardless of race, color, gender, age, creed, religion, national or ethnic origin, disability (physical or mental), marital status, citizenship, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, or any other legally protected status.
