At Onfido, we are looking for an exciting and dynamic AI expert who can push the envelope on unsolved problems like uncertainty modeling, interpretable AI, and protection against adversarial attacks. As a senior AI leader, you will support Onfido’s hyper-growth and deliver real-world value using state-of-the-art machine learning and computer vision techniques.

What you will be doing:

1. Provide technical leadership for a team of highly capable applied AI scientists.
2. Initiate, plan and drive projects for next-generation digital onboarding products.
3. Design and build high-performance end-to-end systems for identity verification.
4. Mentor and work with junior scientists to research and deliver innovative technologies.
5. Participate in hands-on machine learning research and deliver results in new products.
6. Communicate technical vision and roadmap at multiple levels within the organization.
7. Be an external ambassador for Onfido, providing thought leadership across the industry.
8. Publish research results in national and international conferences and journals.
9. Contribute to writing grant proposals and filing patents.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills:

1. PhD or MSc degree in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related quantitative field.
2. Extensive experience in machine learning and computer vision.
3. Track record of successfully delivering high-performance ML-driven products.
4. Lead a team of machine learning specialists, collaborating with engineering and product management.
5. Successfully mentored teams to achieve their full potential.
6. Deep understanding of machine learning theory.
7. Good coding skills in Python (C++ is a plus) and experience with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.

Desirable Skills:

1. Technical experience in uncertainty modeling, explainable machine learning techniques, and related fields.
2. Working knowledge of cloud computing (preferably AWS) and tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Git, etc.
