Group Head of Underwriting (Consumer Products) - Europe

About the Role:

You will join the Wakam Underwriting leadership team to help us profitably grow our business across Europe and support our UK business. You will report to the Group CUO.

This Europe-based position can be on a hybrid or remote basis with one week per month expected to be used for face-to-face meetings, either in London or Paris. Flexibility will be offered and will be required.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the underwriting strategy for insuring Consumer products (extended warranty, accidental damage, theft/loss covers) working with our pricing, product, claims and other teams. You will also be involved in other affinity type product lines.
• Growing the lines of business profitably and in-line with our financial objectives.
• Full portfolio management of lines of business, working with our profitability actuaries.
• Full accountability for the underwriting results for your lines of business.
• Acting as a product and market expert across the UK and Europe.
• Interacting with the market (MGAs, Brokers and Direct clients).

Requirements:

• Underwriting and/or pricing experience with an insurance company in a similar role.
• Advanced underwriting experience of relevant products, personal and commercial.
• Advanced analytical and portfolio management skills.
• Must have some experience in underwriting digital enabled products along with a strong understanding of disruptive trends within insurance.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• French or other European languages is an advantage but not essential.

• HR culture fit interview with Head of Talent.
