The Part-Time Security Guard require shift work, as the University provides Security coverage twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week, year-round. Therefore, this position is designated as one that may require a different work week and hours of work. ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Office Manager of Campus Safety, the successful candidate will:Provide safety and security to all staff, students and visitors on Laurentian University’s campus;Enforce laws and regulations on campus;Direct traffic and enforce traffic regulations;Investigate complaints, offenses and traffic accidents;Conduct security and fire patrols of campus buildings and grounds;Perform traffic and crowd control at special events;Supply information to the general public of a regulatory and directional nature;Provide money escorts, collection, maintenance of machines and delivery to the Treasury Department;Maintain parking equipment;Provide monthly inspections of emergency phones, parking lots and elevators;Submit reports concerning assigned activities;Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsCollege diploma preferably in Law and Security or the equivalent in related experience;One (1) or two (2) years of security or police experience;Possession of a current Ontario Security Guard licence;Possession of a current “G” Ontario Driver’s licence in good standingPossession of a driver’s abstract in good standing;Ability to work twelve (12) hour shifts, rotation shifts, nights shifts & day shifts;Ability to work at the Ramsey Lake location and the McEwen School of Architecture;Good health and physical condition;Ability to work independently;Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills;Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, CPR ‘C’ with defibrillator training: the University will pay for renewal if required, conditions apply;Ability to work fluently, orally and in writing, in both official languages, French and English.Applicants interested shall send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and relevant supporting documentation to Nicole St-Marseille, Director of Campus Safety at [email protected] .
