Senior Software Engineer - Back-end

About us Marble is a fintech infrastructure startup, backed by VCs and Hexa . We build a groundbreaking way to fight payment fraud, beginning by wire transfer fraud. Alongside, we also develop an open-source decision engine for banks, payment service providers and marketplaces. We are based in central Paris and are expanding our team, having put the first customers in production. Your job Your core role as back-end software engineer is to collaborate with the CTO to design, build and maintain the Marble API, including our open-source tools and libraries. You take ownership and document your work (internally and customer-facing). You build and oversee the observability platform for our code. You have a real interest for the product: you build solutions from the ground up, not just execute on someone else’s plan. As a founding member of Marble, you have the potential or previous experience for a leadership role (including but not limited to people management). You play a key role in forging the culture of our technical team. You embrace the full spectrum of responsibilities as an individual contributor in this early stage and are happy to contribute beyond your domain of expertise - whether that means contributing to the front-end, data pipelines, client meetings, security process documentation or others. Our tech stack : Go, Typescript, Postgresql, React+Remix, Github actions. Core skills You have strong programming skills (e.g. go, typescript, python, rust, java…) You know how to deal with relational databases : how to talk to them (SQL) and leverage their powers for creating customer value and reliability You have a proven record in designing, building, debugging and maintaining complex back-end applications You have an end-to-end understanding of the software stack You have an entrepreneurial spirit , are biased towards action and think of customer value first You have great written and oral communication skills . By default, you favor structured written communication and transparency. You are fluent in English (oral and written) Nice to have You have a side experience in security engineering, networking , pentesting and/or cloud security You have lived through the startup scaling experience, once or more You have an experience in fintech, payments, fraud or AML You have deployed large-scale applications in the cloud How we work at Marble We are a small, lean team of seasoned industry experts with the ambition to remake anti-fraud from the bottom up .
