We are currently looking for a Research Scientist in R&D (F/M) based in Illkirch.As the Research Scientist in R&D Chemistry you will develop, prepare, execute and analyze research elements (e.g. problems, questions, ideas) in new products in line with the innovation pipeline, projects and R&D functional standards, in order to gain insight into new developments and contribute to the realization of strategic objectives of Polyplus. The ideal candidate will have strong scientific and leadership skills and take a collaborative approach to working with the R&D team.Polyplus (now part of Sartorius) is a leading provider of upstream solutions for the production of innovative drug therapies such as cell and gene therapies, from research to commercial scale.Our mission is to develop innovative solutions that enable scientists to develop revolutionary nucleic acid-based therapies to improve human health.What You Will Accomplish Together With UsDelivering results on time for longer term projects, ensuring quality and feasibility, according to business needsMonitoring and leading presentation of project progressProviding mentorship and functional guidance of junior chemists/techniciansIdentifies new technologies/process optimization and technical solutions and new application opportunities for cell & gene therapy and shares these with other professionalsDefines IP strategy in line with the innovation pipelineMaintains and promotes a safe work environment, complies with safety policies and procedures. Follows safe work practices for personal and equipment safety, in both the laboratory and in the field.Sets-up, plans, executes, analyses, interprets and reports experiments within own unitKeeps current on uses and improves relevant research methods in the field, ensures retention of knowledge through research reportsParticipates in URS definition and ensures execution, and delivery of technical resultsFormulates and presents solution directions and issues advice at request or at own initiativeInteracts with other departments (R&D Biology & Bioproduction, Production, QC/QA, Marketing)What Will Convince UsPhD in chemistry / chemical technology with 3-5 years of experience or equivalentIn depth knowledge and hands-on experience in synthetic and polymer chemistry is mandatorySound knowledge in delivery technology and formulation is requiredSound knowledge and experience in structure-activity relationship study is requiredProven ability to take initiative and to perform duties in a self-directed mannerProven experience in project managementIn depth knowledge in scientific writing and technical reportsTeam player with excellent communication skills and fluent in EnglishExperience in DOE (Design of Experiment) is a plusKnowledge in process transfer to production is a plusKnowledge and experience in polymer chemistry (synthesis, analysis and characterization) is a plusAbout SartoriusSartorius is part of the solution in the fight against cancer, dementia, and many other diseases.
