R&D Site Unit Leader H/F CDI – Cadre Euroapi site de Saint Aubin Les Elbeuf Join an R&D center of excellence where we work passionately to develop, manufacture and deliver active ingredient solutions for our healthcare partners worldwide. Our Responsibilities The R&D site unit Leader works in collaboration with all Site Leadership Team members and with other R&D Site Unit Leaders and R&D Program Leaders. She/he is responsible for developing new processes, second generation processes and is accountable for delivering knowledge package required for Industrialization. He/she ensures the ownership of the processes from handover to transfer to internal or external production team, supported by the industrialization team. She/he manages the local R&D team (budget, planning, CAPEX, OPEX, hiring, people development, …) according to HSE standards. She/he may provide resources and expertise to the site (or another site) on request. Our Missions Projects Arbitrate and prioritize projects to define the workload plan Delegate to the heads of the divisions the monitoring of projects in their field of activity Validate scientific content, technology selection (in alignment with the industrialization team) and implementation options Deliver full knowledge package (studies reports, PJR, development reports) Implementation of New Processes Ensure Process handover at lab scale Propose process design options / Ideation phase In close collaboration with IPL MS team, develop the process, collect the data in order to provide to engineering team all required informations for feasibility study Ensure the delivery of Process deliverables in projects (Summary of User Needs, Objective Specifications, Process Description, Material Balance, Process Diagram, Special Specifications for Main Equipment (in close collaboration with IPL MS team), Technical Comparison Table, etc.) Validate the main gates of projects on a scientific and technical level Supervise the management of new facilities dedicated to the team Provide the necessary support for the start-up of the transferred processes/new installation: support for OQs, PQs, training, start-up follow-up Provide technology benchmark and provide bibliographic studies Support to IPL-MS Team Provide support to IPL-MS team in case of significant crisis on industrial Processes If required, executes trials / analysis / reports under IPL-MS accountability Provide Datascience expertise and develop tools to improve process parameters management Management Resource management Ensure the adequacy of the project and resources and prepare, make and follow up on investment requests Participate in the development of the budget in terms of personnel Propose material investments for her/his team People management Implement the organization and set the objectives Assess and evaluate employee contributions, plan and organize recruitments and identify training needs Our Requirements Chemical Engineer or Chemist with strong background in Process Engineering having proven track record of industrialization of at least 5 years including an essential part on industrial site Knowledge or direct experience on synthetic biology and/or recombinant protein expression and/or biocatalysis Knowledge of chemical processes and technologies implemented in the area of industrial pharmaceutical chemistry (including HSE, Quality, regulatory environment such as FDA or equivalent) Good understanding of the role of Process Engineering in Industrial Operations: chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, unit operations of chemical engineering, solid chain, robustness of processes, etc. Mastery of process simulation tools (PROSIM, MixIt, SuperProDesigner, Aspen Engineering, …) Familiar with Big Data Good level of demonstrated technical leadership, cross-functional communication and problem solving / conflict resolution skills. Ability to reconciliate varied requirements in an international environment. Ability to effectively communicate across the organization at all levels. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French. Is effective in working through others and getting stakeholders behind the decisions. Strong organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills. Strong personal initiative, global transversal leadership, managing across cultures, participation and influence, negotiation with key stakeholders, change management, working through others, multitasking in a complex environment, and risk taking.
