```html Job Summary Role The Material Scientist Polymers is responsible for the development of minerals based new products and solutions into the Polymers applications, supporting Imerys organic growth in the Thermoplastics, Thermosets & Rubber segment. Responsibilities SAFETY: Contribute directly and in a proactive way toward her/his colleagues and her/himself to Science & Technology (S&T) Laboratory safety. Responsible to help the S&T team understanding the structure-properties relationships of polymer matrix filled with engineered industrials minerals/additives. Responsible for the S&T projects execution and the development of the necessary technologies, materials understanding and products related to the Polymers business (NBO, new applications, new services and technical support using laboratory resourcing): Is accountable from a Technology standpoint for an efficient use of resources to deliver at the expected performance & cost timely technology solutions. Coordinate with her/his Peers to allocate technical team pool resources matching deadline on her/his projects and in coherence with overall priorities of the segment. Responsible for nurturing IMERYS relationships and growing our intimacy with the Academic world and Private laboratories. Ensures tight coordination inside Imerys with S&T New Product Development (NPD) Managers and the relevant Operations, Product Management, Process, Commercial and Business teams as well as Technical Services. Look for and lead the relationship with external R&D resources when capabilities are not available internally. Report in a timely manner progress to peers and management (monthly activity, research activity progress, Accolade). Contribute to lab/pilot assets acquisition, implementation, technical acceptance, commissioning and maintenance. Propose and draft documents (invention report, patent) to protect our intellectual property. Contribute to the specification datasheet content definition and to product launch kit elaboration (under the lead of product management/marketing teams). Produce scientific/technical articles to grow our visibility through communication in professional magazines. Keep his/her awareness on technologies/products evolution (OEM’s technologies, new competitors’ product) that can have an impact/interaction with Imerys solutions for polymer & rubber segment and disseminate across our polymer community. Pro-actively contribute to our ideation process and feed our NPD pipeline. Title, Position in the Organization & Grading Title: Material Scientist Reporting to: S&T Polymers and Rubber Director Grading: N-4 / L5 Location: Toulouse Competencies and Experience Imerys Leadership Behaviour: Demonstrated capability to deliver results in a timely manner and in a challenging environment. Ability to work as part of a team. Provide clear instructions to the technical team and make sure those instructions are understood. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work in a transversal environment. Ability to perform convincing presentations to an internal audience and at exhibitions/conferences. Transparency, reliable results, sharp & clear written and spoken communication. Ability to propose solutions, willingness and natural appetite to “brake the code” of materials structure-properties relationship. Key Scientific / Technical Competencies Very strong quantitative and analytical capabilities in relation to polymer materials. Thermoplastics, Thermosets and Elastomers phase transition, thermodynamic polymers surface chemistry and surface functionalization. Good Laboratory Practice acumen and intimate with key project management rules. Ability to run computer simulation (finite element calculation) and define relevant condition to the limits. Familiar with Design of Experiment (DOE), principal analysis component (ACP). Skills and practice of SPC / FMEA (AMDEC), root cause analysis is a plus. Ideal Background/Experience PhD or Msc in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering. 2+ years of work experience in Polymer applications R&D - ideally both formulation and processing/converting -, particularly related to the use of minerals. Considered a plus to have also worked in rubber applications. Work in an international environment is a plus. Fluent English written, spoken; a second EU language appreciated (German, Italian, French). Other Requirements Availability for business trips in Europe (10%).
