Location: Paris
Closing Date: 26/08/2024
Salary: £60 - £80 Per Annum
Type: Temporary
Job Requirements / Description
C12 develops reliable & application-specific quantum computers, to solve highly complex computing tasks, currently out of reach of even most powerful supercomputers. Building a quantum computer still needs innovators ready to tackle exciting challenges. C12’s founders are convinced that only a new material for the qubit will bring a technological breakthrough. C12 uniquely uses carbon nanotubes as the fundamental building blocks of its quantum processor. This high-purity material minimises errors, radically improves performance and reduces hardware overhead for fault-tolerant computing. Combined with well-established semiconductor techniques, carbon nanotubes will help scale quantum computing, just as silicon revolutionised classical computing. Founded in 2020, C12 is a fast-growing start-up, having raised a seed round of USD 10 million in June 2021 and building its own lab space in the centre of Paris (Panthéon).Your role at C12 Quantum ElectronicsAs a Quantum Chip Design Lead, you will drive improvements on the microwave performances of our quantum chips through modelling and design. Superconducting microwave circuits are used at C12 to couple spin qubits and qubits readouts. You will be actively involved in launching new generations of our quantum chips that will improve gate and measurement fidelities, as well as connectivity. You will lay out and design multi-qubit circuits for fabrication and develop next-generation quantum processors. Your position will involve a strong collaboration with the team in charge of the fabrication of the chips as well as in charge of the measurement of the qubit at low temperatures.Your tasks will include:Proposing circuit architecture to improve the performance of gates and readout in collaboration with the Quantum Measurement teamDesigning and laying out superconducting integrated circuits for quantum processors in collaboration with the Nanofabrication teamManaging a Quantum Hardware RF EngineerBuilding gds design of circuits using custom simulation tools based on Python and simulating them using commercial software (HFSS, ADS Quantum Pro)Collaborating with fabrication and experimental teams to determine different circuit architectures to fabricate and measureMeasuring at low temperatures the microwave properties of the circuits that you have designed and modeledAbout you:You have a PhD in experimental quantum physicsYou have research and/or industry experienceYou have a good understanding of circuit quantum electrodynamics and quantum dotsYou have a good understanding of semiconductor fabrication processesYou have deep knowledge of computational modelling, in particular to quantum circuits, integrated or lumped element electrical circuitYou have experience using commercial EM solvers (HFSS, COMSOL, CST)You are able to collaborate across diverse teams of expert engineersYou speak and write English fluentlyYou are self-motivated and are able to work independentlyYou are curious and passionate about technology with a particular interest in quantumYou have the start-up mindset (growing and creative environment)You should join us if...You want to contribute to achieving landmark results in quantum computing, making a difference in the emerging quantum technologies. You want to work within a 40-people team with various backgrounds in nanofabrication, quantum electronics, and carbon nanotube science to create a revolutionary quantum computing processor. You want to thrive in an exceptional scientific environment with several industrial and academic partners. You share our values (excellence, scientific integrity, diversity, curiosity, and care) and want to help us define our product-focused culture and ambition to accelerate.C12’s Quantum Electronics' unique technologyAt C12, a qubit, the fundamental functional unit of a quantum computer, is built from an isotopically ultra-pure 12C nanotube suspended above a silicon chip containing control electrodes and a quantum communication bus. Our spin qubits hold great promises in terms of individual control and manipulation as well as for the circuit architecture. A suspended isotopically pure 12C nanotube holds great promises in terms of stability, as it reduces all sources of decoherence (charge noise, nuclear spin noise, phonon relaxation).C12 encourages all who feel qualified to apply. Recruitment decisions are based solely on qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience.Applications from women are particularly welcomed.Join the quantum race and contact: [email protected] #J-18808-Ljbffr
