Carbon Maps is the first environmental accounting platform dedicated to the food industry.

We are on a mission to help the food industry reduce its environmental impact by aggregating fragmented data across all stages of the food chain—from farmers to consumers—and carrying out simple, rapid, and auditable science-based calculations that translate into actionable insights. Bringing together product designers, software engineers, data scientists and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) experts of the highest caliber, we are building and offering innovative and agile tools that combine environmental data modeling expertise with streamlined, extremely user-friendly software.

Carbon Maps launched in December 2022. Today, we are a team of 20 based in Paris, well funded with the backing of top European VCs and already working with large food companies and retailers such as Andros, Sodexo, Leclerc and Bel.

Mission Highlights

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Engineering’s mission highlights include being responsible for leading the engineering team to build and deliver our high-quality SaaS solution. You will work closely with other members of the Executive team to define technology strategy and ensure that engineering teams are aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering team made of 6 engineers in developing and delivering the Tech roadmap,
  • Hire, coach and develop our engineering team, providing mentorship, guidance, and feedback,
  • Develop and execute the Carbon Maps tech strategy,
  • Participate in pre-sales activities and client meetings as well as in POCs definition and presentation,
  • Ensure that engineering best practices are being followed and that the team is using the latest technologies,
  • Collaborate with the Co-founders (CEO, COO, Chief Science Officer) and the product & Business teams to align on initiatives, define and prioritize developments and enhancements,
  • Create and maintain a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement,
  • Participate in strategic planning and budgeting processes, providing technical expertise and guidance.

Profile

  • 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role,
  • Strong technical skills in software development methodologies (SaaS), tools, framework, infrastructure, and product engineering,
  • Deep understanding of modern software development practices, including Agile, DevOps, and Continuous Integration/Deployment,
  • Successful experience in building and managing great tech teams,
  • Business sense to understand clients and market, to develop pragmatic stack tech to sustain our solutions with your teams,
  • Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time and on budget,
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to defend Tech positions internally (with Business and Product) or externally (with partners or clients).

  • 2 Tech focus Interviews with Jérémie (CSO) and Olivier (current Head of Engineering in residence)
  • Business/Product Focus interview with Estelle, COO & Co-Founder.
