AIT Manufacturing and Industrial Senior Manager

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.We want you as a talented Manufacturing and Industrial Senior Manager to help us in our mission by setting up, industrializing and managing different areas of production that The Exploration Company wants to internalize.Key responsibilities:Setting Up a Workshop with CNC Machines:Establishing a small workshop within the Merignac facility.Selecting CNC machines (such as lathes, milling machines, and basic machinery) to post process our 3D printed equipments and any other small structural parts.Leading the implementation process and ensuring quality processes are in place.Initially supervising production before a future ramp-up.Production of Thermal Protection Tiles:Creating a production method for thermal protection tiles using molding techniques.Procure and setup the different machineries and tools/stations.Supporting production until stability is achieved and a ramp-up can occur.Design Constraints and Cost-Effective Fabrication:Ensuring that internally designed parts meet constraints for cost-effective fabrication.Being responsible for competitive manufacturing costs by approving in-house drawings and supporting the follow up of suppliers with the Vehicle Design Team.Team Management:Eventually leading a team of drawing approvers and industrial engineers.What we would love to see from you:An essential requirement is a degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.Significant experience in managing industrial projects, production, or manufacturing/machining is necessary.In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation, and CNC machines.Ability to implement quality processes and solve technical problems.Understanding of design constraints for efficient manufacturing.Leadership skills to lead a team.Capacity to make informed decisions and manage resources effectively.Attention to detail, organizational skills, and precision.Strong communication skills to collaborate with different teams.Ability to work under pressure and resolve issues promptly.Why you should join us!What makes us special here at The Exploration Company and why we think you will enjoy working here is:We’re Agile - we make decisions fast whilst keeping our goals and systems in mind.We’re Open and Collaborative - we are transparent about risks and obstacles, so that we can cooperate to overcome them.We have a lot of Fun - we refuel our energy knowing we are democratising space.
